This first book of poetry by Dean James-Robbins tells a story about a modern-day journey from Dublin to Paris via Shropshire, London and the battlefields of Northern France, and at the same time from the Nineteenth to the Twentieth Century in the history of poetry. Oscar Wilde figures as a major character but the author pays homage to some of his other favourite poets here as well: Ford Madox Ford, Ezra Pound, T. E. Hulme and Hope Mirrlees are the main ones. This book gives its readers a sense of the stones of the cities it is set in as well as the stones on the graves of the influences cited by the author.
